Full Itinerary

Day 1 UK-Windhoek

After taking Saga’s VIP door-to-door travel service to the airport, enjoy fast track security, airport lounge facilities and meet and greet at your airport before departing on your overnight flight to Windhoek.

Day 2 Windhoek-Midgard

Arrive in Namibias capital city today, and transfer to the locally rated 4-starMidgard Country Lodgefor a two-night stay. The lodge is set on a private nature reserve at the foot of the Otijihavera mountain range. This evening youll be able to meet fellow guests at a special welcome dinner. D

Day 3 Midgard

Today is at leisure. Perhaps laze by the pool, indulge in a treatment in the spa, or marvel at the surrounding wilderness and panoramic views on a sundowner drive. B, D

Day 4 Midgard-Etosha National Park

After breakfast drive north to the Etosha National Park where youll spend two nights at the locally rated 3-starEpacha Game Lodge. The lodge has a hilltop location within the Epacha Wildlife Reserve. B, D

Day 5 Etosha National Park

Set off for a full day visit to the Etosha National Park, the third largest game park in Africa, covering more than 22,000 square kilometres.

The park was first established in 1907, when Namibia was a German colony known as South West Africa. The park supports up to 114 mammal species, including the endangered black rhinoceros and the endemic black-nosed impala, as well as some 300 bird species. The Etosha Pan dominates the park. This salt pan is roughly 130 kilometres long and as wide as 50 kilometres in places. The pan is usually dry, but fills with water briefly in the summer, when it attracts pelicans and flamingos.

Day 6 Etosha National Park-Damaraland

This morning head for Damaraland, a huge, untamed, ruggedly beautiful region of Namibia. Pause en route to see the Twyfelfontein rock paintings. In Afrikaans, Twyfelfontein means fountain of doubt, referring to the inconsistent supply of water to the area. Here is the richest archaeological site in Namibia, with approximately 2,500 rock engravings and rock paintings.

Continue to Damaraland where youll stay overnight at the locally rated 3-starDamara Mopane Lodge, built in the style of an African village. B, D

Day 7 Damaraland-Swakopmund

Head towards the coast for the city of Swakopmund, pausing for an included trip to Cape Cross to visit the fur seal reserve. Here these endearing animals thrive on the abundant fish and undisturbed surroundings. Spend the next two nights at the locally rated 4-starSwakopmund Entertainment Centre. The city has a distinctly German influence, with attractive old buildings, seafront promenade and palm-lined streets. B, L, D

Day 8 Swakopmund

Enjoy a morning cruise around Walvis Bay, with sparkling wine and fresh oysters included! From your vantage point on deck, look out for seals, dolphins, and seabirds, including pelicans and cormorants. This afternoon take an included tour of a local township. B, D

Day 9 Swakopmund-Sesriem

After breakfast, journey south to Sesriem, a small settlement located in the Namib Desert. En route youll visit the canyons and surreal lunar-like landscapes of Namib Naukluft Park, where youll see the endemic welwitschia mirabilis, a plant with only two leaves but which can live for over 1,000 years.

Stay two nights at the locally rated 4-starSossusvlei Lodge, a resort whose adobe-style rooms with canvas roofs blend in with their desert surroundings. B, D

Day 10 Sesriem

This morning enjoy a guided visit to Sesriem, as well as famous Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon.

Drive through Sesriem Gate into Namib Naukluft Park. Travel 65 kilometres through the national park and then transfer to a 4×4 vehicle which will take you the last 5 kilometres to see the famous dunes of Sossusvlei a huge clay pan surrounded by massive dunes of up to 250 metres high! Enjoy the amazing views and changing shadows and colours of the sand then head back, stopping to view Sesriem Canyon. The name Sesriem is Afrikaans and means six belts, since the early settles had to join six belts together in order to lower buckets into the canyon to scoop up water.

Day 11 Sesriem-Fish River Canyon

Set off towards the second largest canyon in the world, Fish River Canyon.

Fish River is the longest interior river in Namibia, but its flow is now a small trickle compared with the immense volume of water that once poured down its length. The canyon itself is 550 metres deep and up to 27 kilometres wide, and youll be able to take plenty of photos of the dramatic landscape. Spend the next two nights at the locally rated 3-starFish River Lodge. B, L, D

Day 13 Fish River Canyon-Kalahari Desert

After breakfast, journey north, into the Kalahari Desert, where youll spend the next two nights at the locally rated 3-starLapa Lange Lodge. B, D

Day 14 Kalahari Desert

After breakfast at the lodge, walk in the Kalahari with a bushman tracker to learn his desert survival secrets and hear the history of the ancient San people. The rest of the day is free to spend at leisure. B, D

Day 15 Kalahari Desert-Windhoek

Today youll return to the Namibian capital for your final night, staying at the locally rated 4-starWindhoek Country Club Resort and Casino. En route youll pass through Rehoboth, pausing to visit the Rehoboth Museum, where you can discover the history, culture, architecture and special character of the original settlers.

On arrival in Windhoek, enjoy a tour of the city to see the State House, now home to the President, and the Christuskirche, built for the German Evangelical Lutheran settlers in 1907. B, D

Spend the morning at leisure, then transfer to the airport this afternoon for your overnight flight. B
