This unforgettable experience provides the chance to see polar bears in their natural habitat – often extremely close up! Flying to the remote town of Churchill, you’ll enjoy thrilling excursions in a gigantic Tundra Buggy that travels across the frozen plains.
Stay for one night in the capital city of Winnipeg before your real adventure begins. Depart on a flight over the open plains, forests and lakes of the Manitoba hinterlands to the remote town of Churchill on the shores of Hudson Bay. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel before you partake in an afternoon of sightseeing and cultural immersion.
The following couple of days offer thrilling excursions in the rugged and impressive Tundra Buggy® – a gigantic bear-proof vehicle that travels across the frozen plains into the Churchill Wildlife Management Area where you can observe polar bears in their natural habitat. Wonderful days are spent on the tundra viewing the bears and other Arctic wildlife including caribou, Arctic foxes and snowy owls. The curious polar bears often approach the buggy and stand up to peer at the windows, giving the opportunity to capture some perfect photographs! You’ll be served lunch and refreshments on board the buggy.
During your final morning in Churchill you’ll have the opportunity to join a dog sledding excursion through a nearby forest. After lunch and before your return flight to Winnipeg, visit the Parks Canada Interpretive Centre to discover a little more about the history of the region.
The final day in northern Manitoba will be spent discovering the culture of the region with a thrilling dog sled ride and a visit to the Parks Canada Interpretive Centre. A return flight to Winnipeg in the evening and a further overnight stay completes this unforgettable northern Canadian experience.
