Itinerary

Day 1
UK to Berlin to Wittenberg

Fly to Berlin and transfer to Wittenberg where you’ll embark MS Princess on the River Elbe.

Day 2
Wittenberg to Magdeburg

This morning an included tour of Wittenburg reveals some of the sites associated with Martin Luther and the 16th-century Protestant Reformation on the 500th anniversary of this world-changing event. Continue cruising this afternoon, arriving in Magdeburg late this evening.

Day 3
Magdeburg to Calvörde to Wolfsburg

This morning you can join an optional city tour of Magdeburg, where you will see the Cathedral of St Mauritius and St Catherine, and the ‘Green Citadel’. Pause briefly in Calvörde, before continuing to Wolfsburg for an overnight mooring.

Day 4
Wolfsburg to Peine to Hanover

Today’s included full-day excursion ventures into the Harz Mountains, northern Germany’s highest range. Visit the historic towns of Goslar, Wernigerode, and Quedlinburg, with its UNESCO-listed medieval old town before re-boarding MS Princess in Peine. Continue sailing to Hanover, where your ship moors overnight.

Day 5
Hanover to Minden to Stolzenau

Sail away from Hanover early this morning and cruise along Germany’s longest artificial waterway. On arrival in Minden, negotiate the Schachtscleuse lock from the canal to the River Wesser and continue sailing through the afternoon to Stolzenau.

Day 6
Stolzenau to Bremen

This afternoon, explore the Hanseatic city of Bremen on an included tour. Attractions include St Peter’s Cathedral whose history spans 1,200 years and the 15th-century town hall, both in the market square. The Schnoor quarter is a maze of streets lined with tiny 15th and 16th-century houses, while the bohemian quarter offers quirky shops, galleries and museums.

Day 7
Bremen to Oldenburg

Sail from Bremen early this morning and enjoy a leisurely day on board, watching the scenery drift by, before mooring overnight in Oldenburg.

Day 8
Oldenburg to Groningen

This morning an included excursion visits the Meyer Werft shipyard which specialises in building luxury ships. Hop back on board MS Princess at Bollingerfähr and cruise into the Netherlands, stopping overnight in Groningen.

Day 9
Groningen to Giethoorn to Lemmer

Sail from Groningen this morning and look forward to an included excursion to the village of Giethoorn this afternoon. Take a boat trip along Giethoorn’s pretty, peaceful waterways and relish a slice of delicious Dutch apple cake in a canal-side eatery.

Day 10
Lemmer to Amsterdam

Leaving Lemmer behind this morning, you arrive in the capital of the Netherlands this afternoon and can join an optional coach tour of the city, with an included cruise along Amsterdam’s famous canals.

Day 11
Amsterdam to UK

After breakfast, disembark your ship and travel by coach to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
