Look forward to discovering some of the beautiful and fascinating highlights that lie along the river Douro and beyond. When you’re not out and about, look forward to enjoying the music of Gilbert & Sullivan aboard Douro Princess. There will be five on-board concerts of music performed by your expert hosts, Matthew Craven and Judith Buckle, as well as two talks to enrich your musical experience. Join them as they perform popular works from one of our great opera duos and be part of a proper ‘How-De-Do!’ as you make your way along the river. No holiday to Portugal is complete without trying the port wine for which it is so justly famous and your tour of the city of Oporto will conclude with a tour of a port wine cellar. Saúde!

UK to Oporto
Fly to Oporto on the north bank of the Douro and embark your ship at Vila Nova de Gaia on the south bank. You’ll remain moored here overnight. Look forward to meeting your expert music hosts and learning about the five on-board concerts and two music-related talks that you’ll be able to enjoy during your cruise.
Oporto to Régua
This afternoon look forward to lunch at the 14th-century former Monastery of Alpendurada, with wine included. Your cruise continues to Régua, where you moor for the night.
Régua to Pinhão
Enjoy an included tour that takes in the 18th-century Casa de Mateus Palace and gardens, one of the loveliest country houses in Portugal – you may recognise it from the Mateus rosé wine label. Cruise to Pinhão where you’ll visit Quinta da Avessada for dinner, with wine included, and some live entertainment.
Pinhão to Vega de Térron
Join an included excursion to Figueira Castelo de Rodrigo, a small, medieval village set atop a hill beside the River Côa. The ship moors for the night in Vega de Térron.
Vega de Térron to Barca d’Alva
An included full-day excursion into Spain reveals Salamanca, where the old town has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire the city’s twin cathedrals and pretty main square, the Plaza Mayor, then experience traditional Spanish culture with lunch at a local restaurant and a flamenco show. Rejoin your ship in Barca d’Alva and look forward to a traditional Portuguese dinner.
Barca d’Alva to Pinhão to Régua
Look forward to a wine tasting at nearby Quinta do Seixo on arrival in Pinhão. Then visit the ancient city of Lamego, one of the most attractive cities in Portugal. See the elaborate Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, which is set atop nine steep terraces overlooking the town. Moor overnight in Régua.
Régua to Oporto
Set off for an included tour of beautiful Oporto, located on the Douro estuary, which is crossed by several magnificent bridges, including the Dom Luis Bridge which was designed by Gustave Eiffel. See the cathedral, then enjoy a tour of one of the local port wine cellars. Moor in the city overnight.
Oporto to UK
After breakfast and bidding your fellow guests and hosts goodbye, disembark and travel to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
