Itinerary

UK to Cologne

Travel by coach from Folkestone to Cologne via Eurotunnel or P&O Ferries. Embark your ship and enjoy a welcome reception and dinner on board.

Cologne to Koblenz to Winningen

Set sail for Koblenz early this morning. Its origins date back to Roman times and the city is a delight to explore. You may prefer to join an optional excursion that tours the city and visits Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Cruise to Winningen from where you moor overnight.

Winningen to Cochem to Zell

Spend the morning cruising to Cochem. This afternoon, an optional excursion tours enchanting Cochem Castle from where you can take in magnificent views of the Moselle. Sail to Zell, a famous wine town located on one of the most beautiful points on the Moselle. From the ship you may be be able to spot parts of the old walls and charming gabled houses.

Zell to Bernkastel-Kues

Mid-morning, sail from Zell to the captivating and charming town of Bernkastel-Kues. It’s one of the prettiest small towns in Germany where colourful Renaissance houses line the market square.

Bernkastel-Kues to Trier

Spend an afternoon in Germanys oldest city, Trier, founded in 16BC by Emperor Augustus. It retains many relics of its illustrious past as you will discover on an included tour to see the spectacular Roman city gateway, Porta Nigra, and the cathedral.

Trier to Traben-Trarbach

Take in the stunning scenery as you leave Trier, and admire the dramatic landscapes of the Moselle as you cruise to the twin town Traben-Trarbach which straddles the river. Arrive here after lunch.

Traben-Trarbach to Boppard

Enjoy a leisurely day cruising along the beautiful Moselle to the picturesque town of Boppard, which boasts more than 2000 years of history. This evening you can go ashore and explore the attractive waterfront promenade and perhaps join an optional walk to a winery for a wine tasting.

Boppard to Rdesheim

Depart Boppard and sail south past the famous Cat and Mouse castles. Shortly after you will pass the Lorelei rock, where legend has it that a siren sang to sailors, luring their ships onto the submerged rocks where the men drowned. On arrival in the fascinating town of Rdesheim, explore streets of charming half-timbered houses, head to the wine taverns of the Drosselgasse or sample the excellent coffee, served in ceramic goblets, for which this town is renowned. Alternatively, join an optional trip to visit the museum-home of an eccentric millionaire, Siegfried Wendel.

Rdesheim to Mainz to Andernach

Arrive in Mainz this morning and perhaps explore its impressive red sandstone cathedral and the Gutenberg Museum dedicated to the ‘father of modern printing’. During lunch, continue to Andernach, where the old town reveals part of its medieval fortifications.

Andernach to Knigswinter to Cologne

Arrive in Knigswinter this morning and perhaps take an optional excursion to the haunting ruins of Drachenfels Castle. Sail to Cologne where you can spend the afternoon exploring. The city was founded by the Romans and is famous for its vast cathedral and brand of perfume. Depart Cologne this evening and cruise overnight to Amsterdam.

You have the afternoon and evening to explore this lively cosmopolitan capital. Perhaps join an optional city tour including a canal cruise, during which you’ll discover a great deal in a comparatively short time, or go exploring independently.
