The Rainforest to Gold Rush itinerary is the newest Rocky Mountaineer route and it features two full days on board as you travel from Vancouver to Jasper, with overnight stops in the mountain resort of Whistler and the small riverside city of Quesnel.
Begin your journey in Vancouver, departing early in the morning. Sit back and relax as you experience the unique and diverse beauty of British Columbia. Highlights include spectacular views of Howe Sound, the Coast Mountains and the impressive Cheakamus Canyon. You will arrive in Whistler late in the morning, allowing for some free time to explore this famous Olympic resort and its surroundings. The next morning the train departs for Quesnel, following the shores of Anderson and Seton Lakes. These were once the same lake before a large landslide divided them over 20,000 years ago. You’ll continue alongside the Fraser Canyon and pass over the almost 100-metre-high Deep Creek Bridge. Arrive in the charming city of Quesnel mid-evening for your overnight stay. The following day, reboard the train and continue your adventure by weaving through British Columbia’s Cariboo and Chilcotin regions, passing Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 metres. You will cross the Yellowhead Pass into the province of Alberta, before travelling through Jasper National Park to Jasper where your journey will come to an end.
