Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Inverness

Check into your hotel with the rest of the day free to relax in the Highland capital. At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and travelling companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel.

Day 2 Inverness, Culloden and Brodie Castle

Fascinating visits on todays excursion. Stop first at Clava Cairns, featured in theOutlanderseries and one of Scotlands most sacred prehistoric sites. See its three exceptionally well-preserved burial cairns, each enclosed by stone circles. At CULLODEN VISITOR CENTRE, the story unfolds of the crushing Hanoverian victory over Bonnie Prince Charlies Scottish clans. Then, visit BRODIE CASTLE, the ancestral home of Clan Brodie, with an outstanding art collection and magnificent library. Back in Inverness, the rest of the day is at leisure. Our recommendation for this afternoon would be to join the Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle optional excursion, which includes a cruise on the loch.

Day 3 Inverness

A full day to relax and explore the capital of the Highlands today. Crowned by a pink crenellated castle and lavishly decorated with flowers, this cathedral city on the banks of the River Ness has a rich variety of places to visit including the historic Victorian Market, an excellent museum and art gallery, and some attractive riverside walks. Why not join an optional excursion offered by your Tour Director?

Day 4 Inverness, Isle of Skye and Glenfinnan

See heather-clad moors as you drive through the western Highlands to Lochalsh and the Inner Hebridean Isle of Skye . The route back to the mainland is by FERRY across the Sound of Sleat to Mallaig. Pause at Glenfinnan to see the monument to fallen Jacobite clansmen and the famous viaduct well known to Harry Potter fans before reaching Fort William beneath Ben Nevis. On return to Inverness through the Great Glen, look out for signs of the mysterious Loch Ness Monster.

Day 5 Inverness and West Coast excursion

More spectacular Scottish scenery: Dornoch Firth, the Kyle of Sutherland, the Falls of Shin, the Mountains of Assynt, and Knockan Crag. Then, follow Strath Oykel for a visit to Ullapool, a remote fishing harbour on Loch Broom, before returning along Loch Glascarnoch. For your final treat, discover the secrets behind Scotlands national drink during a guided tour of a WHISKY DISTILLERY. Enjoy a farewell dinner at your hotel.
