Day 1
UK-Montreal

After taking Saga’s included UK door-to-door travel service to the airport, fly to Montreal for a three-night stay at the Marriott Chateau Champlain (4Q).

Day 2
Montreal

Join an included city tour and discover Montreal’s intoxicating mix of history and innovation. See the flamboyant 19th-century Notre Dame basilica, Old Montreal, a beautifully preserved district, home to Place Jacques Cartier and Maison Calvert. B

Day 3
Quebec City

Travel to Quebec City and join an included sightseeing tour. You’ll discover the 17th and 18th-century buildings of the Place Royale and Petit Champlain Quarter, the Citadel and the famous turreted Château Frontenac Hotel. B, L

Day 4
Montreal-Ottawa

Enjoy an included sightseeing tour of Canada’s national capital, home to the parliamentary building with its peace tower, and some excellent museums. Stay two nights at the Delta Ottawa Hotel (3Q+). B

Ottawa

Day 6
Ottawa-Toronto

Travel to the shores of Lake Ontario for an included cruise around the Thousand Islands. Later transfer to Toronto for a two night stay at the Chelsea Hotel (4Q). B, L

Day 7
Toronto

This morning’s sightseeing tour will reveal the contrasting cityscapes including the stunning waterfront and landmark CN Tower. B

Day 8
Niagara Falls-Board train

No trip to this part of the world is complete without seeing Niagara Falls. Travel to Niagara by coach on this full-day excursion and enjoy a boat ride to the bottom of the falls. Later, return to Toronto to board the ‘Canadian’ and begin your journey to the West Coast. B

Crossing the Canadian Shield

Relax, enjoy the scenery, the convivial experience, and the food! B, L, D

Day 10
Winnipeg

Arrive in the ‘Gateway to the West’ this morning and enjoy a two-night stay at the Delta Winnipeg Hotel (3Q). Join a city sightseeing tour that takes in Winnipeg’s French Quarter, the Legislative Building, and the Forks, the confluence of the Assiniboine and Red rivers and an important historic site. After lunch in the French Quarter, visit the fascinating Canadian Museum for Human Rights. B, L

Day 11
Winnipeg

Today visit Assiniboine Park Conservancy to see the state-of-the-art Journey to Churchill exhibit. This aims to replicate the landscape and wildlife of three regions of the Canadian North, and is home to black bears, arctic foxes, grey wolves, polar bears and ringed seals. Here you’ll learn about conservation work with endangered animals. Many of the resident polar bears were orphans, rescued from certain death in the wild. Walk between vast salt water aquaria where the bears swim. Churchill in Canada is known as the polar-bear capital of the world, bears pass through this region annually as they migrate from their summer habitat to the pack ice of Hudson Bay – hence the name of this exhibit.

Continue to the McFeetors Heavy Horse centre, also at the zoo, to see the mighty Percheron draft horses once used by pioneers. After lunch visit Manitoba Museum to learn more about the history of this great country. B, L

The Prairies to the Rockies

Continue your journey across the prairies. B, L, D

Day 13
Jasper

Glue yourself to the window and wonder at the jaw-dropping scenery as you travel into the foothills of the Rockies past canyons, forest, waterfalls and soaring peaks. Arrive in the mountain town of Jasper early afternoon for a two-night stay at the Sawridge Inn (3Q). B

Day 14
Jasper

Drive along the famous Icefields Parkway and stop at the Athabasca Glacier for a ride on the Ice Explorer. Later visit the Glacier Skywalk, a towering glass view-point that might test your nerve. B

Day 15
The Rockies to the Pacific

Morning at leisure, Later re-board the train and head towards the Pacific coast. B, D

Day 16
Vancouver

This morning you’ll arrive at Vancouver for a two-night stay at the Georgian Court Hotel (4Q). See the city sights on an included tour which takes you through Gastown, Canada Place, China Town and Stanley Park. Later you can join an optional excursion to Grouse Mountain and the Capilano suspension bridge. Tonight enjoy a farewell dinner at the hotel. B, D

Enjoy a trip on the Grouse Mountain Skyride, to view amazing scenery from 1,127 metres above sea level. At the summit, enjoy an array of dining options and gift shops, or watch a film in the Theatre in the Sky. Then you’ll travel to Capilano Park where local guides in 19th-century costume will show you around. Next stop is Capilano Suspension Bridge, the world’s highest and longest suspension bridge.

Day 17
Vancouver

At leisure. You might like to join a full-day optional excursion to Victoria for a tour and to see the beautiful Butchart Gardens. B

Take the ferry to Vancouver Island to explore the picturesque capital Victoria, commonly known as the ‘Garden City’. A sightseeing tour will reveal the highlights including the impressive Parliament buildings, and you’ll also have some free time to explore independently before continuing to the immaculate Butchart Gardens created from a former limestone quarry.

Day 18
Vancouver-UK

After breakfast transfer to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK. B

Arrive in the UK the following morning for your included door-to-door travel service home.
