Youll be greeted by the colourful sight of Bergens UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf, a collection of historic buildings, as Spirit of Adventure cruises into the port of Bergen. An included scenic tour will reveal the citys main attractions, but the city is easily explored independently on foot if you prefer. Perhaps explore the Old Bergen open-air museum, a reconstructed town of 18th and 19th century houses with a bakery, tailors and dentist; see Europes largest collection of fish and invertebrates from the North Sea at Bergen Aquarium; or head further afield to Troldhaugnen, the home of famous composer Edvard Grieg and now a living museum offering guided tours. For spectacular views and splendid photo opportunities, take the Ulriken cable car up the highest of Bergens seven mountains. From the summit, you can admire the surrounding city and fjordlands.

This small but vibrant port is unlike any other in Norway thanks to its distinctive art nouveau architecture which stands tall above the waterfront the result of a fire in 1904 that razed much of the city centre. An optional walk reveals its architecture and includes a visit to the Art Nouveau Centre where you’ll learn the story behind the fire and see the pink neo-classical city hall. For a breathe of fresh air, join a short hike to the top of Sugar Lump Mountain where you can enjoy views of the fjords in all directions.
