Overview

Itinerary (Suggested)

Day 1 – UK – Halifax

Collect your rental car and head for Halifax.

Day 2 – Halifax

A free day in Halifax to explore.

Day 3 – Halifax – Lunenburg (90 miles)

Head south to Lunenburg, visiting Peggys Cove along the way. This small village has houses built into the granite rock and a lighthouse overlooking the Atlantic. Continue to Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a lovingly restored Victorian town that begs you to wander and explore.

Day 4 – Lunenburg – Annapolis Royal (85 miles)

Stop this morning at Kejimkujik National Park, renowned for its hiking trails and incredible canoeing on wilderness lakes and rivers. Park interpretive staff conduct walks revealing the natural history of the area. Continue to Annapolis Royal.

Day 5 – Whale watching

Today drive to Digby to experience a whale watching excursion in the nutrient rich waters of the Bay of Fundy. Look for finback, minkes, humpbacks or even the rare North Atlantic right whale. Spend the afternoon exploring Annapolis Royal and Fort Anne.

Day 6 – Annapolis Royal – Wolfville (70 miles)

Make a stop at the Grand-Pr National Historic Site, commemorating the Acadian settlement from 1682 to 1755 and the Deportation of the Acadians, which began in 1755 and continued until 1762. Also the Domaine de Grand Pr is a fantastic winery which is worth a visit.

Day 7 – Wolfville – Charlottetown (225 miles)

En-route to Charlottetown take time to stop and see the Bay of Fundy, a marvel of nature. Then cross the 13km long Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island.

Day 8 – Charlottetown

Explore Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island. Located on the southern coast, the city was the birthplace of Canada and is home to the Province House National Historic Site, which was the site for meetings that led to the formation of Canada in 1867. Charlottetown oozes a warm small-town feel; full of historic charm, an abundance of fresh seafood, local produce and a lively cultural scene.

Day 9 – Prince Edward Island Sightseeing

A free day to explore picturesque Prince Edward Island. Visit the islands north shore to see sand dunes, beaches and the fictional home of Anne of Green Gables.

Day 10 – Charlottetown – Cape Breton (175 miles)

Take Route 1 to the Wood Islands Ferry crossing to Pictou, Nova Scotia then drive to Cape Breton Island, a little piece of Scotland in North America.

Day 11 – Explore the Cabot Trail

Explore the fabulous Cabot Trail, considered one of the worlds most scenic destinations, which winds around Cape Breton Highlands National Park for awe inspiring views of stunning ocean vistas, old-growth forests and prehistoric rocks scarred by glaciers,

Day 12 – Cape Breton Island

Visit the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, an incredible living museum of a French garrison town from the 1700s and visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck.

Day 13 – Baddeck – Halifax (225 miles)

Return to Halifax along the scenic Bras dOr Lakes Drive.

Day 14-15 – Halifax – UK

Return your car at the airport and board your flight back to the UK.
