ItineraryDay 1 UK – Dsseldorf – CologneTitans VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from your home for your flight to Düsseldorf. On arrival, transfer to Cologne and embark our ship. Light refreshments are available on arrival, with time at leisure to settle in before dinner this evening. Day 2 KoblenzThis morning we arrive in Koblenz, a city dating to the 11th century and renowned for its array of historic monuments. The city has long been watched over by extensive fortifications, and Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, built in the early 19th century, is the subject of our included excursion. We follow this up with a tour and wine tasting at Deinhard Cellar Museum. We dock in Koblenz overnight. Day 3 Koblenz – Lorelei Rock – MainzEarly this morning we sail the beautiful, winding Lorelei Passage and pass the legendary Lorelei Rock; the scenery is utterly spectacular here as the narrowest part of the stunning Rhine. Early afternoon we arrive in Mainz, an old German town filled with timbered houses, medieval market squares and fascinating architecture. You might want to visit one of the historic monuments including the royal palace and beautiful cathedral. We set sail this evening. Day 4 Christmas Eve – SpeyerEnjoy a scenic sail to Speyer, a city that showcases more than 2,000 years of history. An optional walking tour is available to explore unique historic attractions, romantic lanes, lively squares and promenades that offer new discoveries at every turn. Its cathedral, originally founded by the Salian emperors in the 11th century, is today an outstanding example of Romanesque architecture and it has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This evening, the Captains Christmas Eve gala dinner awaits as we begin the Christmas festivities. Day 5 Christmas Day – StrasbourgEnjoy traditional Christmas festivities, with a delicious gala lunch. There is then free time this afternoon to visit the grand city of Strasbourg. The city centre has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the twisting alleys lined with crooked houses and its monumental cathedral are a delight to explore. Day 6 Boxing Day – RdesheimAt lunchtime we sail into the enthralling wine-growing city of Rüdesheim. Well take an included walk to visit the fascinating Siegfried's Mechanical Music Museum, housing 350 self-playing musical instruments. We dock overnight in Rüdesheim. Day 7 Rdesheim – Lorelei Rock – CologneEarly this morning we pass through the beautiful Lorelei Passage once again before a mid-afternoon arrival into Cologne – one of Germanys oldest cities, boasting historical treasures and excellent museums. On an included walking tour, we discover many years of history by exploring the citys monuments that reflect many different stages in the citys cultural history, from the Roman Empire to the modern day. Cologne Cathedral is a fascinating structure, constructed between 1248 and 1880 and is the perfect place to admire medieval Gothic architecture. |
