Day 1
UK to Basel

Fly to Basel and embark Regina Rheni II. Enjoy a welcome drink and dinner as you cruise to Briesach.

Day 2

Breisach, in the beautiful Rhine Valley, has an impressive cathedral, cobbled streets and colourful traditional houses to discover. Or join an optional excursion to Lake Titisee in the Black Forest.

Day 3

Strasbourg offers plenty to explore during your day here, including the beautiful cathedral and La Petite France, a maze of narrow streets of medieval buildings and canals. Perhaps join an optional guided walk and canal boat trip.

Day 4
Mannheim to Mainz

During your afternoon in Mainz you can discover 2,000 years of history as well as the Gutenberg Museum dedicated to the father of modern printing. Alternatively, visit romantic Heidelberg on an optional excursion.

Day 5
Miltenberg to Wertheim

Historic Miltenberg has an abundance of pretty timber-framed houses, an attractive old quarter and historic market square. Pause in Wertheim before cruising overnight.

Day 6

Admire the idyllic setting amid sloping vineyards. An optional guided tour also visits the UNESCO-listed baroque Residenz Palace.

Day 7

Spend the afternoon in this enchanting Bavarian city whose old quarter is recognised as the epitome of fairy-tale Germany.

Day 8

Join an included sightseeing excursion of this German city which contrasts ancient churches with the former Nazi Party rally grounds.

Day 9
Kelheim to Regensburg

An optional excursion from Kelheim, where you pause briefly, visits Weltenburg Abbey and includes a boat ride through the the Danube Gorge. Your ship continues to Regensburg where there are many examples of fine Romanesque and Gothic architecture to be seen.

Day 10

Arrive in Passau for a day exploring the ‘Venice of Bavaria’ at the confluence of the Inn, Ilz and Danube rivers. Perhaps join an optional walking tour.

Day 11
Melk to Weissenkirchen to Drnstein

This morning explore Melk where an optional excursion visits the magnificent high baroque Abbey. Spend some time in pretty Weissenkirchen then cruise to Drnstein, one of the most picturesque towns on the Danube.

Day 12
Drnstein to Vienna

Enjoy the morning in Drnstein, set in the stunning Wachau Valley. Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned in the now ruined Kuenringer Castle. Continue to Vienna, arriving this evening.

Day 13

On an included panoramic coach tour see the city’s major landmarks including the majestic Vienna Opera House. This is followed by a short walking tour through the heart of Vienna, beginning at the stunning St Stephen’s Cathedral. Depart for Budapest at lunch time.

Day 14

The Hungarian capital is a cosmopolitan, culture-rich centre discover the highlights on an included guided tour this morning. Remain moored here overnight.

Day 15

Enjoy another day exploring this ‘city of two halves’ independently, then cruise overnight towards Mohcs.

Day 16

Spend the day in Mohcs, site of a battle which launched 150 years of Turkish rule and a famous centre of Hungary’s folk traditions. Depart later tonight.

Day 17
Novi-Sad to Belgrade

After a morning in Novi Sad, cruise to Belgrade, arriving early evening.

Day 18

Explore one of the oldest European cities highlights include the National Museum, the parliament and St Sava Cathedral. An optional city tour also includes a visit to the vast Kalemegdan fortress.

Day 19
The Iron Gates

Cruise along this scenic stretch of the Danube through the Carpathian mountains and Balkan foothills to the Iron Gates, a gorge between sheer cliffs.

Day 20
Svistov to Rousse

You have a few hours to look around Svistov before an afternoon in elegant Rousse, sometimes referred to as Little Vienna. Cruise overnight towards Tulcea.

Day 21

Arrive this afternoon at the Romanian city where the Danube empties into the Black Sea, and moor overnight.

Day 22
Tulcea to Danube Delta to Tulcea

Cruise the stunning Danube Delta, a wetland biosphere and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that provides sanctuary for over 300 species of bird! An optional excursion on a smaller boat allows you to explore further. Moor in Tulcea overnight.

Day 23
Tulcea to Bucharest

Disembark Regina Rheni ll after breakfast and travel to Bucharest. En route, stop and tour Constanta. This ancient metropolis on the Black Sea is said to be where Jason landed after finding the Golden Fleece! Lunch is included here. Continue to Bucharest and the locally rated 5-star Athenee Palace Hilton Hotel (5Q), in the heart of the city. Enjoy dinner here tonight.

Bucharest to UK

Check out after breakfast and travel to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
