Day 1 UK-AntiguaAfter taking Saga’s included UK door-to-door travel service to the airport, fly direct to Antigua island and transfer to the St James’s Club (4Q), where you’ll stay for six-nights on an all-inclusive basis. D Day 2 AntiguaEnjoy the day at leisure or join an optional excursion to Sting Ray City to swim with these friendly members of the ray family in their wild natural environment. B, L, D Optional excursionsSting Ray cityone hour Antigua is virtually encircled by a coral reef, visited by a range of marine life including Southern Stingrays. Get up close up to these friendly members of the ray family on an optional swim in Sting Ray City, where you’ll meet them in their wild natural environment and have an opportunity to stroke and feed them a truly memorable experience Day 3 AntiguaEnjoy an included half-day tour taking in the capital, St Johns Town, with its handsome cathedral. You’ll continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Nelson’s Dockyard National Park, plus the military complex of Shirley Heights and Clarence House, built for Prince WIlliam Henry (later WIlliam IV). Perhaps stroll through the lush grounds to the sandy beaches or relax by one of the six pools. Alternatively, take an optional boat trip around the island. An optional excursion takes a catamaran to Barbuda and its Bird Sanctuary, where you can view the largest nesting colony of Magnificent Frigatebirds. B, L, D Optional excursionsBarbuda and its Bird SanctuaryFull day Travel by catamaran to the neighbouring island of Barbuda and visit the bird sanctuary to see the extraordinary frigatebirds. The largest nesting colony of Magnificent Frigatebirds is found here. These fascinating birds are unable to walk or swim and so spend their time perched in the mangroves or on the wing their eight-foot wingspan allows them to soar effortlessly above the water. Their best-known feature is the males’ brilliant red neck pouch which they inflate to impress females in an effort to find a mate! Day 6 AntiguaAt leisure. Perhaps join an optional Island safari or set off for some independent exploration the hotel operates a daily shuttle to the capital of St John’s from Monday to Thursday (charge applies). B, L, D Optional excursionsIsland Safari and KayakingFull day Take a safari tour in an open-sided 4×4 around the island, through Body Pond and melon farm reserves. Then climb into your kayak on the fringe of Crabs Peninsula and paddle through the shallow waters of the North Sound National Park. Finally, a scenic boat ride transports you to Bird Island for some snorkelling at the nearby reefs. Day 7 Antigua to St KittsA short flight takes you to St Kitts where you can spend the next two nights exploring from the lively St Kitts Marriott Resort (4Q). Youll receive a discount card exclusive to Saga guests which gives you a 10% discount in selected restaurants and shops in St Kitts. Enjoy an orientation walk and stroll to Frigate Bay with your tour manager. B, L, D Day 8 St Kitts tourEnjoy a day at leisure, making use of the hotel facilities or relaxing on the beach. Alternatively, an optional ride on the scenic narrow-gauge railway may be available. B Day 9 St Kitts-NevisAfter breakfast at the hotel, get a feel for the island on a three-quarter day included historical tour. St Kitts has a fascinating past with the rise of sugar and tobacco plantations, and you’ll see Brimstone Hill Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Romney Manor and Caribelle Batik, where you can relax over a Caribbean picnic lunch in the gardens. Later this afternoon, board a boat for the island of Nevis, where youll stay for five nights with breakfasts included, at the Mount Nevis Hotel (4Q). The rest of the day is at leisure to explore your new surroundings and perhaps take a dip in the pool. Complimentary afternoon tea is served daily on the hotel terrace. B Day 10 NevisDiscover more of the island of on an optional historical tour. B
Optional excursionsHistorical and Garden tourHalf day Visit sites that reflect the islands history, including the ruins of Cottle Church, damaged by an earthquake and later a hurricane. Built in 1824 by John Cottle, a planter and one-time president of Nevis and a planter, it was where his family and his slaves worshipped together, despite it not being consecrated as slaves were forbidden by law to worship. At the Horatio Nelson Museum youll find a substantial collection of Nelson memorabilia. Nelson was based in nearby Antigua but met and married Fanny Nisbet, a widow he met on Nevis. Visit the Nevis Botanical Gardens, where themed gardens and an impressive tropical rain forest conservatory are set around a replica Great House. Your tour concludes with a visit to the Nisbet Plantation, an inn set on a beach where you can enjoy a soft drink. Day 11 NevisToday theres an included full-day tour of this small and beautiful volcanic island. Drive through the small and attractive capital of Charlestown to see fine examples of the colonial era with numerous 18th and 19th-century Georgian-style buildings with stone lower levels which served as shops and a wooden structure upstairs where the shop owners lived. See the hot springs at the Bath Hotel and the 17th-century Church of St Thomas. Take a walk through the grounds of Golden Rock, a former plantation, and into the rainforest. Later, enjoy a laid-back lunch at the colourful and typically Caribbean Lime Beach bar. B, L Day 12 NevisAt leisure. Perhaps hop on the hotels complimentary shuttle bus and head to the nearby Oualie Beach or Nisbet Beach Club. B Day 13 NevisAt leisure. B Day 14 Nevis-St Kitts-AntiguaTake a boat ride back to St Kitts then travel to the airport for your flight to Antigua, and onwards overnight to he UK.
