Go in search of the island’s native wildlife before heading to Réunion for the chance to admire the island’s spectacular scenery. Day 1
UK to Antananarivo

After taking Saga’s included UK door-to-door travel service to the airport, depart in the morning for your flight to Madagascar, arriving late at night. Travel to the Carlton Hotel (4Q) for one night.

Day 2
Antananarivo to Antsirabe

After a relaxing morning at the hotel, journey to Antsirabe, pausing en route in Ambatolamy. Stay overnight at Le Royal Palace (3Q) B,D

Day 3
Antsirabe to Ranomafana

Enjoy a short tour of the city and visit horn and confectionery workshops. Afterwards, travel to the small settlement of Ranomafana on the outskirts of the Ranomafana National Park, stopping en route in Ambositra. This evening, a visit to the park gives you the chance to spot its star attraction, the golden bamboo lemur. Spend two nights at the Setam Lodge (3Q), which offers panoramic views across the park. Ranomafana National Park

Explore the park on a full-day tour, returning to the hotel for lunch.B, L, D

Day 5
Ranomafana to Antananarivo

After breakfast at the hotel you’ll pause in Antsirabe on your return journey to Antananarivo and the Carlton Hotel, where you’ll stay overnight. B, L, D

Day 6
Antananarivo to Andasibe

Discover more of Madagascar’s wildlife on an included full-day excursion into the Analamazaotra Special Reserve. You can even return this evening to spot the reserve’s nocturnal residents. Stay overnight at the Vakona Forest Lodge (2Q).

Day 7
Andasibe-Saint-Denis-Saint-Gilles les Bains

Transfer to the airport for an afternoon flight to Saint-Denis, where you’ll be met by your Saga tour guide. Journey to Saint-Gilles les Bains for three nights at LUX* St Gilles, La Réunion (4Q+). B, D

Day 8
The Cilaos Cirque

Set off early this morning on an included excursion to the Cilaos Cirque, a naturally-occurring amphitheatre situated around 1300 metres above sea level. B, L, D

Day 9
Saint-Gilles les Bains

Spend the day at leisure or join a full-day optional excursion exploring the island’s wild southern coast. B, D

Take the chance to see more of the island’s rugged scenery as you travel to the southern coast and stunning Grand Anse beach, where coconut palms sway in the sea breeze.

Day 10
Saint-Gilles les Bains-Saint-Denis-Bel Ombre

Take a morning flight to Mauritius where you’ll transfer to Bel Ombre for a four-night stay at the Tamassa, An all inclusive resort (4Q+). The free Saga bar is open from 11am to midnight. B, L, D

Day 11
South island tour

Today’s included half-day excursion visits the Sacred Lake of Grand Bassin, ventures through the Black River Gorges National Park, tours a rum distillery in Chamarel and reveals the spectacular Chamarel Waterfalls.B, L, D

Day 12
Bel Ombre

Perhaps join a full-day optional tour of Colonial Mauritius and learn more about the island’s past. B, L, D

Colonial Mauritius |full day

Tour the island’s capital, Port Louis, where you’ll see Jummah Mosque, in the distinctive Chinese Quarter, among other highlights. Continuing to 18th-century Fort Adelaide, a hilltop citadel with views over Port Louis harbour, you’ll visit the photographic museum that traces the history of photography on the island as far back as 1840.

Bel Ombre

There’s a choice of optional excursions available today: cruise aboard a catamaran; visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Pamplemousse; or travel to the beautiful beach at Trou aux Biches for an underwater walk. B, L, D

Catamaran Adventure |full day

Travel to Black River, where you’ll journey aboard a catamaran to Coconut Island. Here, you’ll have time to swim and snorkel in the turquoise waters and enjoy an included barbecue lunch.

Pamplemousses Garden |three quater day

Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Pamplemousse, where attractions include the giant Victoria Amazonica water lily and the Talipot Palm.

North Tour and Underwater Walk |full day

For this amazing experience, you’re taken to the beautiful beach at Trou aux Biches, where you’ll take an unforgettable escorted walk along the seabed.
