Experience the dramatic scenery of the mountains meeting the sea by setting sail to fjord favourite, Flam.

This seven-night cruise north visits a trio of classic Norwegian ports and will reveal some of the countrys most majestic scenery. Spend the first of your days ashore in the attractive city of Bergen, which has a splendid backdrop of mountains and fjords. Set off on foot to explore the Bryggen with its colourful wooden houses, and perhaps browse the boutiques that are hidden among the cobbled streets. Bergen is also home to one of the regions most impressive art collections, housed within the citys KODE museum.

Continue cruising north into the heart of the fjordland, where a visit to the village of Flam offers the opportunity to board the Flam Railway for a journey through a magical landscape of valleys, mountains and waterfalls. The Stegastein viewpoint is another awe-inspiring attraction that you can visit from Flam. This incredible lookout platform extends 30 metres from the mountainside, 650 metres above a fjord, and the panoramic views are simply breathtaking. Enjoy more splendid scenery as Spirit of Adventure glides across the King of the Fjords, Sognefjord, en route to Stavanger. Relax during an included sightseeing tour of the city, or if you enjoy living on the edge, put on your walking boots and hike to Pulpit Rock.

Admire the Norwegian coastal scenery as Spirit of Adventure cruises into the colourful port of Bergen, where youll be greeted by the sight of the citys UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf, a collection of historic buildings. An included scenic tour ensures you wont miss the citys key sights, but if you would prefer to explore independently, the city is easily accessible on foot. Perhaps uncover Bergens past at the Old Bergen open-air museum, a reconstructed town of 18th and 19th-century houses including a bakery, tailors and dentist; visit Bergen Aquarium to see Europes largest collection of fish and invertebrates from the North Sea; or venture further afield to Troldhaugnen, the home of famous composer Edvard Grieg and now a living museum offering guided tours. If you have a head for heights, take the Ulriken cable car up the highest of Bergens seven mountains. From the summit, enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding city and fjordlands.

Enveloped by the lush green mountain scenery that surrounds Aurlandsfjord, the village of Flam resembles a magical scene from a fairytale. Flams most famous and popular attraction is its scenic mountain railway that wends its way through valleys and ventures into the surrounding peaks to reveal truly magnificent vistas. A splendid feat of engineering, the railway provides one of Europes most scenic train journeys. The Stegastein viewing platform is another local highlight and, if you have a head for heights, you can step out to enjoy unobstructed views of Aurland, some 2,100 feet below.

Today, Spirit of Adventure anchors right in the heart of the coastal resort of Stavanger. Here, an included sightseeing tour visits the key sights and immerses you in the lively urban atmosphere of the city. A short walk from the port is the historic old town, Gamle Stavanger. Wander the cobbled streets to admire the small white cottages that make up Europes best-preserved wooden house settlement. Newer additions to the city include a number of fantastic museums, art galleries and Michelin-starred restaurants.

The state-of-the-art National Petroleum Museum offers an insight into the industry that built modern Norway, whilst the Norwegian Canning Museum details Stavangers history as a sardine canning hub. You might like to go in search of the 23 sculptures scattered across the city which make up Broken Column, a work of art by British artist Antony Gormley, best known for his Angel of the North. Alternatively, you can visit take a sightseeing boat trip on Lysefjord where youll see the iconic Pulpit Rock, which juts out over 600metres above the serene fjord.
