Spend two nights discovering the delights of Prague, then set sail from Passau. Combine the exceptional and the quaint and the new and exciting at every stop. Unearth fascinating local histories on our included excursions and then mull it all over with a glass of wine on the top deck, scenic wonders passing you by.
Day 1 Prague – Passau
Journey to Passau and embark our ship.
Day 2 Passau
town built on the confluence of the rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz, Passau is warmly referred to as the City of Three Rivers. We kick start the day with a city tour through the historic old town. We wind past the baroque architecture and along the cobblestone streets leading up to the magnificent St Stephens Cathedral, home to the worlds largest cathedral organ.
Day 3 Linz
A city that combines its heritage with a healthy interest in the future, Linz is certainly a unique stop on our cruise. Take it all in with an optional walking or tour, or perhaps browse the most important collection of Austrian art history and folklore at Schlossmuseum.
Day 4 Melk – Drnstein
We arrive in the sleepy town of Melk, dominated by its grand Benedictine abbey, which we discover together on an included excursion. This iconic monastery is home to a gold and marble-embellished church. Later this afternoon, arrive in the pinch-me perfect town of Dürnstein, set in an enviable position on the curve of the Danube. In the distance, you spot the chilling remains of the castle which once held Richard the Lionheart ransom. Whilst here, you have the option to join our orientation and wine tasting tour.
Day 5 Vienna
Rich with culture, beautiful arts and world-renowned music, Vienna is one of Europes most beautiful cities. Mozart, Brahms and Schubert all called this opulent city home – and you discover their inspiration as you wander the squares and streets as part of our included tour. Together, well discover the fine Baroque palaces and concert halls. Back on board this afternoon, you have the opportunity to learn the waltz. This evening brings a special opportunity to watch a classical music concert at one of the impressive palaces in the city.
Day 6 Bratislava
Today, we dock in Slovakia. You might choose to join us on an optional excursion into Bratislava on the tourist train through the city. Wander through the charming old town and past the dominating Bratislava Castle (Hrad) – where 11 kings and 8 queens were crowned. After, take a wander for yourself – the old town is a perfect walkable size.
Day 7 Budapest
We glide into beautiful Budapest this morning. The city straddles the Danube, with hilly, historic Buda on the west bank and lively Pest on the east. Our included tour shines the spotlight on the citys top sights, including the riverside Parliament Building with its iconic Gothic dome. The remainder of the day is yours to explore.
