|Resort:||Scenic Wonders of the Danube and the Passion Play|
If youve ever wanted to see the world-famous Oberammergau Passion Play, this is your chance to combine it with wonderful cities along the Danube. Well begin with a leisurely cruise from Budapest to Passau, combining the exceptional and quaint with the new and exciting, in grand settings like Vienna and Budapest. Well then travel to the town of Oberammergau, where well take our seats at this unique theatrical spectacle, performed by the towns inhabitants since the 1600s.
Day 1 UK – Budapest
Titans VIP door-to-door transfer service collects you from home for your flight to Budapest. Upon arrival, transfer to embark our ship, where light refreshments are available.
Day 2 Budapest
Relics. Monuments. Fairytale castles and palaces. Healing thermal waters. It can only be Budapest – and we waste no time in exploring the best bits this morning on our guided tour of the city. Perhaps hire a pedalo across the lake to Vrosliget Park for a wander through the enchanting castle gates and beyond.
Day 3 Bratislava – Vienna
We dock in Bratislava, Slovakia. You might choose to join us on an optional excursion on the tourist train through the city. Wind through the charming old town and past the dominating Bratislava Castle (Hrad) – where 11 kings and 8 queens were crowned. After, take a wander for yourself – the old town is the perfect walkable size.
Day 4 Vienna
Good morning, Vienna. This magnificent city was home to a vast number of classical composers over the centuries – and for good reason. As you wander, the streets ooze opulence and charm at every turn. Kick the day off with an introductory city tour to get your bearings and learn about the citys history.
Day 5 Drnstein – Melk
Situated on an impossibly beautiful curve on the Danube, Drnstein may well be the town that has it all. Charming buildings. A ruined hilltop castle. Stunning surrounding scenery. Whats more, it has a fascinating history: its grand castle walls once imprisoned Richard the Lionheart. Stroll freely through the cobbled lanes, or perhaps choose our optional orientation and wine tasting tour.
Day 6 Melk – Linz
This morning we take a tour of Melks imposing Benedictine abbey. Originally a palace, it was presented to Benedictine monks who turned it into a fortified abbey with an extensive library of priceless volumes and a richly embellished Abbey Church, its grand dome decorated with elaborate frescoes by Johann Michael Rottmayr.
Day 7 Linz – Passau
Spend your morning soaking up the elegance and creative buzz in Linz. Wander through the old town freely, or perhaps join our optional city tour. The city offers a delightful mix of modern and historic architecture, including Linzer Schloss. For a better view of the city, perhaps take a ride on the Pstlingbergbahn, a narrow-gauge railway that climbs up the steep incline of the Pstlingberg hill to the north of the city. Later, enjoy a relaxing afternoon cruising towards Passau.
