Please note: Cuba is a unique and highly rewarding destination, but you will find that the tourism infrastructure and local cuisine can sometimes be quite basic. This tour explores much of the island and so involves a few long journeys.

Day 1 UK to Havana
After taking Sagas included UK door-to-door travel service to the airport, fly to Havana.
Stay three nights at the locally rated 5-starMelia Habana Hotel. Facilities here include a main restaurant, five alternative restaurants, a bar, outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre and spa (charges apply), gardens and terrace. Day 2 Havana
Contrast old and new Havana on an included tour and enjoy a Cuban cocktail lesson, and dinner at a local restaurant tonight. Optional evening excursion to the Tropicana Nightclub. B, L, D
Tropicana Nightclub Evening
Cabaret is very popular in Cuba and it is not just staged for the benefit of visitors! The most famous cabaret is staged at the Tropicana, where you can enjoy an open-air, traditional musical extravaganza in the Folies Bergres style.
Day 3 Havana
Explore Havana independently or perhaps join a full-day optional excursion to Viales Valley. B, L, D
The Viales Valley Full day
Countless caverns pierce the Viales Valley mogotes (strangely-shaped limestone formations), such as the Cueva del Indio, where you’ll take a boat ride on a subterranean lake. You’ll also see the vast Mural de la Prehistoria, commissioned by Fidel Castro, which is painted on a mogote in the valley of Dos Hermanas. Lunch is included in a Creole restaurant.
Day 4 Havana to Cayo Santa Mara via Santa Clara
Today you depart Havana for Cayo Santa Mara, stopping en route for a tour of Santa Clara, capital of Villa Clara province. Founded in 1689 with the main square and church at its centre, it is home to good examples of colonial architecture including the Teatro de la Caridad, a Cuban National Monument. In 1958, Santa Clara was the site of the last battle in the Cuban Revolution, when Che Guevara stopped a train carrying weapons and reinforcements to attack the revolutionaries. Since 1997 Che Guevaras body has lain in a mausoleum in Santa Clara, which you’ll see on this sightseeing tour. After an included lunch in Santa Clara, you’ll continue to Cayo Santa Mara, a beautiful key or cayo, with a long sandy beach, on Cubas northern coast.
You’ll spend the next two nights here on an all-inclusive basis at the locally rated 5-starMelia Cayo Santa Maria. Situated 10 metres from a white sandy beach the hotel has a choice of restaurants, a bar, pool, bar, beach bar and a snack bar. There are two swimming pools, a fitness centre and spa (charges apply). Each of the 360 air-conditioned rooms has a television, safe, minibar and hairdryer. B, L, D
Day 5 Cayo Santa Maria
At leisure. Perhaps explore Cayo Santa Maria or relax on one of its beautiful beaches. B, L, D

An included tour visits Trinidad and the famous La Canchanchara Bar.
Stay overnight at the locally rated 2-starVilla Rancho Hatuey. The hotel comprises several accommodation blocks spread throughout the grounds and offers the chance to stay in an authentic, Cuban-style property, where amenities are functional, but may not be of the standard you will have experienced in other hotels. Day 7 Sancti Spiritus to Camaguey
Included city tours of Sancti Spiritus and Camaguey.
Stay overnight at the locally rated 2-star+Hotel Colon, an older hotel with an eclectic charm but very small guest rooms. However, what this small hotel may lack in facilities, it makes up for with its warm and friendly welcome. Rooms have air conditioning and a television. B, L, D
Day 8 Camaguey-Bayamo-Santiago de Cuba
Included tour of Bayamo.
Stay three nights at the locally rated 5-starMelia Santiago de Cuba Hotel.The hotel has outdoor swimming pools and various sports facilities. Your included breakfasts and dinners are served in the hotels buffet-style Las Columnas restaurant. For dinner, guests are requested to observe a smart dress code: gentlemen are not permitted to wear shorts or open-toed shoes. You can choose to dine in any of the hotel’s other restaurants at your own expense. Santiago Harbour cruise Half day
Santiago de Cubas natural harbour has made it an important port for the past five centuries and a cruise on its waters provides a new perspective on Cubas second city. You will also be able to watch the Changing of the Guard at Santiago Cementario a cemetery built for the victims of the war of independence.
Day 11 Santiago de Cuba-Guardalavaca
Travel to Guardalavaca pausing en route for lunch.
Stay three nights at the locally rated 4-starSol Rio Luna y Mares. The resort is composed of two adjoining hotels with a beautiful sandy beach just 50 metres away. Facilities include a main buffet-style restaurant, plus a selection of other restaurants and bars, as well as a snack bar. There are three freshwater pools, including one in the wellness centre, a wellness centre (charges apply), sports courts, fitness centre, and live entertainment available. Day 12 Guardalavaca
The next two days are free for you to relax on the beach or to enjoy the leisure facilities at your hotel. B, L, D
Museum Chorro de Maita and insight into local life Half day
The archaeological Museo Chorro de Maita protects the site of an excavated Indian village and provides some intriguing insights into the life of indigenous Cubans before the coming of Columbus. It is set in a picturesque area on a hilltop in Holguin, five kilometres south of Guardalavaca. You also visit a small farm and replica village.
Day 13 Guardalavaca-Camaguey
Enjoy the hotel facilities and white sand beaches before travelling to Camaguey after lunch. Stay overnight at the locally rated 2+-starHotel Colon, Camaguey. B, L, D
Day 14 Camaguey-Havana
Travel back to Havana stopping for lunch in Santa Clara, home to the Che Guevara Mausoleum. Stay overnight at the locally rated 5-starMelia Habana Hotel. B, L, D
Day 15 Havana to UK
An optional excursion traces Ernest Hemingways life in Cuba. Travel to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK. B, L
Ernest Hemingway TourHalf day
This excursion focuses on Nobel prize-winning author Ernest Hemingways life in Havana, his home for almost 20 years. You’ll visit his country home, which remains as he left it in 1959. You can explore the grounds and climb a small tower in the gardens which offers lovely views of the museum and Havana city. From there, continue to Cojmar, a fishing town on the outskirts of Havana, where Hemingway kept his yacht and took his inspiration for his Nobel Prize-winning novel The Old Man and the Sea.
You’ll complete the tour by revisiting old Havana and the Floridita bar: a regular haunt for Hemingway and his literary and Hollywood friends.
